Horacio Quiroga, a master of narrative degradation
It is interesting to come across stories of the early century of progress, the twentieth century. Horacio Quiroga (Uruguay born in 1878), a man of tortuous life (at least wants to Wikipedia explain the nature of his stories) is a very lucid example of the scope of literature at the time of renewal in Latin America . True to Poe as any connoisseur of his work might notice, Quiroga overwhelms the subject in various aspects [1] .
Constant fascinating and worthy of analysis is the presence of nature in their stories. The field is in most cases, the perfect scene where he still can not quantify and qualify under the rules of logic [2] . If we look, for example, the story's wild honey, we are faced with a comical representation of city man, educated in their own way, which is the forest known as mythologized through books. This man, falls under the networks of the forest, touching in a unit, he is dragged away by the frenzy of a fascinating disappearance.
Well, we wanted to address the issue, and degradation. The first story I read from the collection to which I am referring, Adrift is a story that begins abruptly, a farmer is attacked by a snake, a key achievement fangs and inject venom. This man, who knows awfulness of this bite, desperately trying to save his life. Here's something very interesting to me, the progressive development of their disease. Symptoms and disease development are like a crescendo, while the poor farmer named Paul tries to find some help. You have to get to civilization, but this is too far. Anyway, he started his journey in the canoe, as time passes and the times are changing color the landscape and the madness goes Paulino projecting toward death. In this story, there was naturally a symphony, a dramatic rhetorical effect. Many may find it a source of complaint to the distress of farmers, or simply stigmatized as one of his tales of madness and death. I think that is to say little and do not look at anything that involves management quite expressive of his art.
We have another story that shows us this beautiful degradation in a broader sense, this is a season of love. I think the effect in this exemplary tale unfolds. Quiroga use the stations as to give effect and channel order and the events narrated. This narrative reflects a number of issues about love that era (I do not give a summary, rather I would like the interested reader read the stories. Spring begins in a festive ritual, where the eyes of young lovers cross for the first time. The flowers, the rich environment of life, just the prologue. In this part of the story, do not even know the name of the girl, only care about their beauty, their emanation of life. It is the summer where we present the core of the story, and where the variables are further developed and conflicts. Overflowing love is more than ever, but it is a love interrupted. Is This segment also, a sign of the times, which although not so far, show a quite different way of thinking. One example is that the protagonist feels terribly social weight to choose the girl. He really wanted, and could stay with the girl, but decency prevented him from disgrace, even if ultimately this will lead to having to marry her, which is exactly what I wanted, that is, the cause does not justify the means.
I missed something very important for all these lines and is the mother of the girl, who plays an even more important that the same girl. It is she who manipulates small Lidia and is the intermediary between the young, is the ghost that manipulates and is always behind this idyll: Lidia dearly wanted, and morale of the hysterical bourgeois, had debased his daughter to make her happy - that is, to provide what they have done their own happiness. Adjectives speak for themselves.
Autumn is an incredible leap in time. All this story does not develop in a year, but the stations respect the times of the particular love which implies a different management of the resource. It's fall and ideals are dead and there is only take what little life left, and Lydia is no longer a princess, is a woman, but always beautiful. Speculations on the instrumentalization of the self
A high level of experience is available based on experience with self . There are many times when necessary, to learn, conceived as an object of study, and later as a tool to increase our knowledge about the world. I am thinking in particular, that a very educational and useful for learning is used to oneself (such as a wrench to assemble a car or a match to light a candle) to reach some understanding of things.
In the beginning, was the ritual. The man had the need to go to certain practices related to religion as a means of expression. You can find various motivations in this industry, seen from different fields of knowledge, such as release of drives (do you say that?) From psychoanalysis, identity search reaffirming itself as an individual from a group from an anthropological perspective, and even these practices can be conceived as a search rhetorical aesthetics as a means to make an impression to the other participants of the ritual. The truth is that all these elements, each complex in itself, come together in a practice "primitive."
So the man who participates in a ritual are creating, you are representing, but although it has no notion of these words is brought himself to do so. Have a conscious need to analyze the movements of impressing his thought in every gesture, and to do it the better. This is just the beginning of self-manipulation, as all the arts from their roots or it (the performance, visual arts, for example) are just a variation or an upgrade of such practices. The actors, as is common knowledge, they need exercise and considered themselves thoroughly to achieve mastery of his body, his expressions, his whole being. Those who undertake this journey, acquire knowledge necessarily double, since you first know themselves, and then, and obtained the victory, used themselves as vehicles for knowledge.
